The work of Milenco revolves around the tension between wanting to be invisible and simultaneously longing to be seen. It also delves into how one wants to be perceived and the conditions they attach to this perception for themselves.
Photography began as a way for him to find a place in the world. It started with a focus on aesthetics, drawing much inspiration from pictorialism, in the hope that people would grant Milenco space in the world. Over time, it became evident that one does not simply find a place in the world, but rather must claim it.
The dynamics between wanting to remain unseen and the desire to be seen change again. Consequently, his photography evolves along with it. He now seeks less validation from others in his photography, instead aiming for depth within himself. Presently, he searches for connection with his subjects in the unshared stories that both his subjects and he himself carry. This is not only to occupy a place in the world for himself but also for his subjects.
